The dirt basement of this ca. 1895 Colonial Revival home was remodeled
and transformed into a family room with bedrooms and a bath. A stair
leads up to the large whirlpool tub which dominates the room. Two
traditionally-styled pedestal sinks and a toilet were selected to
match. Antique wall sconces were installed and supplemented with
a wall washer light which highlights the tile wainscot extending
all the way to the ceiling. The owner selected the 10" x 14"
wall tile and 12" x 12" floor tile for its rhythmic geometry,
rich texture, and traditional colors. Casework around the new window
is similar to original windows in the Colonial home and a sliding
french door with obscure glass matches others in the home.
