Servais Residence, Berkeley, California

This intimate home on a small hillside lot replaces a home lost in the 1991 firestorm. The lot was split by a stream and a bridge provided access from the main road to the three-story house. The two-story foyer is dominated by a curved stairway and the Adobe-style home features many handcrafted items designed and built by the owners. A natural limestone fireplace and built-in seating highlights the living room. Upstairs, hand-troweled plaster gives the home its handcrafted appeal. The master bathroom also features natural stone slabs.
