THE ART OF ADDING ON
This contemporary ranch-style home needed a new kitchen, a larger dining area, a homework zone, while the family wanted space to hang out together. Interior walls were removed to combine dining and kitchen areas while a small family room was added adjacent to the dining room.
With natural light streaming in from every angle, the intimate family room feels larger than it's small footprint. It features a spacious cathedral ceiling, many french doors, and numerous skylights. A direct-vent stone fireplace anchors the room while sliding doors take advantage of the cozy new “Colonial” deck. On the opposite wall, another french door leads to the hot tub.
The old breakfast nook became a study place for the children, complete with a computer niche and a window seat overlooking the new deck. New sliding french interior doors keep it quiet from the Living Room beyond.
